Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Classy AI ("we", "us") governing your use of the Socrates tutoring service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and is part of these terms.
1. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the service.
- You must provide accurate account information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Educator accounts must be created only by people who genuinely teach or support the courses they manage.
2. Acceptable use and academic integrity
Socrates is built to strengthen your understanding, not to complete your work for you. You agree to:
- Follow your institution's academic-integrity policies. You are responsible for how you use the service in your coursework, and for confirming that your instructor or institution permits it where such permission is required.
- Not attempt to circumvent the service's academic-integrity protections, rate limits, or access controls.
- Upload only material you have the right to use, and no unlawful, malicious, or infringing content.
- Not misuse the service — including probing for vulnerabilities, scraping other users' data, or misrepresenting your role.
3. Subscriptions, trials, and refunds
- The Student plan is $9 per month after a 30-day free trial. No payment method is required to start the trial.
- Paid subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law or where we determine a refund is warranted.
- Classroom and institutional plans are sales-assisted and governed by a separate written agreement; where that agreement conflicts with these terms, it controls for that deployment.
- The service applies fair-use limits (currently up to 50 tutor messages and 5 quizzes per day) which we may adjust with notice.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you upload and the messages you write. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display that content solely to operate and improve the service for you — including sending it to the service providers named in our Privacy Policy for processing on our behalf. We do not sell your content and we do not use student data to train AI models.
5. Our service and intellectual property
The service, including its software, design, and branding, belongs to Classy AI and its licensors. These terms do not grant you any rights in it beyond the access needed to use the service as intended.
6. AI output disclaimer
Socrates is an AI tutor. Its responses are educational guidance generated by a machine-learning system: they can be incomplete, imprecise, or wrong, and they are not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice. Verify important material against your course sources and your instructor.
7. Availability
We provide online access without scheduled tutoring hours, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation and offer no service-level agreement. The service may be briefly unavailable, for example during deployments or provider outages.
8. Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create risk for other users, or are required to be terminated by law. Where practical, we will notify you and give you the chance to export your data first.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Classy AI's total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will post changes here and update the date and version above; material changes will be flagged in the product, and continued use after they take effect constitutes acceptance.
